Dr. Matthew D. Pressland
Institut für Algebra und Zahlentheorie
About MeI am a research assistant in Steffen Koenig's group at the Institut für Algebra und Zahlentheorie at Universität Stuttgart. My research focuses on representation theory, cluster algebras and geometry. From the end of March 2020 I will be an EPSRC postdoctoral fellow at the University of Leeds, studying dimer models with boundary.
Previously I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Max-Planck-Institut für Mathematik, and a PhD student at the University of Bath, advised by Alastair King. I have also spent two months as a guest of Henning Krause's BIREP group at Universität Bielefeld.
Together with Hicran Dursun, Anne Henke, Steffen Koenig, Frederik Marks and Alexandra Zvonareva, I was a local organiser for a summer school and conference on silting theory in Stuttgart in summer 2019.
I have previously organised two working groups in Stuttgart, on Auslander's Philadelphia notes and \(\tau\)-tilting theory. Along with Alex Collins and Tom Sutherland, I helped organise a Calf seminar in Bath in May 2012. I also organised the Bath Postgraduate Seminar Series during 2012–13, and founded a postgraduate geometry and algebra seminar.
More information about my research and teaching can be found by following the links on the left. Some of this information is summarised in my CV (although this will often be out of date).
