MV cycles, Littelmann paths, and branching rules.

Abstract:
The aim of this talk is twofold. First I will introduce the Littelmann path model and its connection to MV cycles in the context of the Geometric Satake equivalence, and explain some ideas towards understanding the crystal structure from a building theoretical point of view in a unified way. Some light has recently been shed in this direction by Petra Schwer. Afterwards I will explain how restriction and branching rules come into the picture, and present some recent work with Bea Schumann.
