A concrete example for the Gerstenhaber structure on Hochschild cohomology

Abstract:

Hochschild cohomology can be equipped with the structure of a Lie algebra via the Gerstenhaber bracket, which is usually hard to obtain. This talk features a family of algebras given as quotients of path algebras of a cyclic quiver. For these algebras computational methods by Suarez-Alvarez apply, and we get a concrete description of the Gerstenhaber structure on the Hochschild cohomology of these algebras. In particular the first Hochschild cohomology is given by commuting copies of truncated Virasoro algebras. This is joint work with Nguyen, Pauwels, Redondo, Solotar.
